Interview by Scott Edward McDowell
Blazy Brands designs creates and innovates new products and accessories for cannabis patients, enthusiasts, and businesses across the world. We strive to be the best by focusing on user experience and constantly innovating to stay in front market trends.
I was able to catch up with the Blazy founder for a quick Q&A segment. Check out our conversation below…
Q: What is Blazy Susan?
We are a newer grassroots Denver startup specializing in custom wooden “lazy susans” for
smoking enthusiasts. Blazy Susan has been built off a passion for the industry and feedback from
our growing and loyal following. We hope to set a standard for high-quality products built from
the ground up for the cannabis industry.
Q: Can you tell me more about your pink rolling papers?
Our Blazy Pink Papers were initially a promotional idea, but the idea was so well received we
“rolled” it out as an available product. Everything about these papers is awesome. Vegan and
Non-GMO sourced with the finest wood pulp naturally tinted pink with beet pigment! The
smoothest slow burning paper on the market, more papers per booklet, and no pink tax
included.
Q: Whom are some of the cannabis influencers and celebrities who support the Blazy
movement?
We were super lucky to be featured on CNN for the New Years Eve Special at this beginning of
this year. We had great press coverage by Randi Kaye and then Jimmy Kimmel even shouted
us out on his show the next night! Beyond that we work with a ton of hardworking Instagram
influencers from all over the country (and even a couple worldwide!) who support our brand and
help share our message!
Q: What is next for the Blazy Susan brand?
Blazy Susan will be continuing to improve it’s core product line including the Blazy Susans,
Rolling Trays, and Pink Rolling Papers. We hope to keep introducing fun tools and accessories
along the way. Our most ambitious project in the mix is a Hemp Plastic based Rolling Tray! Our
anticipated release for that is this Christmas!
Q: What purchase of $100 or less has most positively impacted your life in the last six months?
Hmm…I’d say all of the shelving and tools we built for our Blazy space in order to keep up with
our customers. We chose to stick to our own message and just organize our existing space to
make better use of what we have.
Q: How has a failure, or apparent failure set you up for later success? Do you have a favorite failure?
My personal favorite failure was making a ton of money in Cannabis/Vape related Penny Stocks back in 2014. I saw the trend and had a great entry but ended up getting too passionate about
the companies and rode most of my gains back into the ground. It taught me a valuable lesson
about being real with yourself and how I could improve in complicated decision making. I knew I
needed to start my own thing because my motivation was sky high off where my success
sparked from that.
Q: What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you have ever made?
Recently, a nice 3D printer! Working with a cheapo $400 printer may seem like a good idea but
you really get what you pay for in reliability. My new printer (Taz Lulzbot 6) has been killing it
and has been producing consistent quality prints.
Q: What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?
An absurd thing I love is old school disco music! Can’t get better than groovy drums and bass, a
the strong rhythm section is what makes people dance and I love the energy from that era!
Q: In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved in your life?
I feel that my ability to lead and to work together as a team has improved the most. My energy
and passion has inspired others and through that, we have built a team of great people who are
passionate and dedicated to the brand which is crucial in an early stage company.
Q: In the last five years, what have you become better at saying no to?
Definitely alcohol. It seems funny saying that now. Ever since I went full time in the Cannabis
The industry I have been drinking much less. I also love how doesn’t inhibit my ability to have a good
time at all!
Q: When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
Living in the sunshine state has its benefits. I love going to the mountains or getting a good
workout to help clear my head. Playing music also helps to rest the left side of my brain when
stressed.
Q: What advice would you give to a smart, driven college student about to enter the real world?
Question everything, don’t take no for an answer, understand you will have to grind for several
years to build the tools to make yourself successful in the real world. Don’t settle for an easy
job, pursue something that really challenges you!
